Des outils retrouv\u00e9s sur un site magdal\u00e9nien l\u2019attestent. Les Pierres Lev\u00e9es connues \u00e0 Cambayrac prouvent l\u2019occupation \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque du N\u00e9olithique.\u00a0<br \/>Du Haut Moyen-Age il reste des sarcophages, dont un visible pr\u00e8s de l\u2019\u00e9glise de Castanet, d\u00e9couverts \u00e0 l\u2019emplacement de l\u2019actuel caf\u00e9 Castagn\u00e9, \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 de l\u2019ancien fort. D\u00e8s le XII e si\u00e8cle, la famille De Castanet poss\u00e9dait la seigneurie\u2026<\/p>\n<p>La commune de 2200 hectares comprend aujourd\u2019hui deux paroisses\u00a0: Castanet et son annexe Combayrac et le Cuzoul. Bien que petite, la commune n\u2019en est pas moins anim\u00e9e, ses habitants sont tr\u00e8s actifs au travers de nombreuses associations culturelles et de loisirs<\/p>\n<p>La commune se partage entre s\u00e9gala \u00e0 l\u2019est et plateaux calcaires \u00e0 l\u2019ouest. Le c\u00f4t\u00e9 s\u00e9gala poss\u00e8de le point culminant du d\u00e9partement (504m) et est en partie couvert de ch\u00e2taigneraies qui ont donn\u00e9 leur nom \u00e0 la
