SANITATION COLLECTIVE

Since 1 January 2018, the communauté de communes has been responsible for wastewater treatment on a self-managed basis.

The aim of this department is to ensure that the collection and treatment of wastewater runs smoothly. Its main tasks are to monitor and maintain the wastewater treatment plants, with a view to preserving water quality.

The local authority has 14 wastewater treatment plants spread over 13 municipalities

How does collective sanitation work?

Wastewater connections

The connection consists of a public part which extends from the sewerage network to the connection box or stool (generally located on the pavement or road) and a private area which extends from the connection box to the private part of the building (WC, kitchen, etc.).

Wastewater collection

Collective sewerage is a set of pipes used to convey water, by gravity (slope) or pumping (pumping stations), to a treatment plant, which is responsible for returning the treated water to the natural environment.

Waste water treatment

There are 14 wastewater treatment plants in the CCQRGA area, treating wastewater using a variety of processes: activated sludge, reed filters, sand filters, etc.

Checking conformity of sewerage connection in the event of sale

It has been made compulsory to check that water is properly connected to the public sewerage system when a property is sold (decision of 9 July 2024: applicable from 1 August 2024). The cost of a sanitation inspection as part of a sale is 400€.
