The Quercy Rouergue Gorges de l'Aveyron Community of Communes is looking for a Fablab Mediator / Workshop Manager 

The Fabrique de Caylus is a department of the QRGA Community of Communes. Its mission is to develop the creativity and autonomy of individuals through the sharing of knowledge, techniques and skills. La Fabrique de Caylus works to pass on knowledge in all creative fields. It follows in the footsteps of the pioneers behind the first FabLabs, whose philosophy of doing, undoing and redoing to learn by doing has gradually spread around the world. The Fabrique is a space that provides citizens, schools, associations and businesses with machines and tools to prototype/make just about anything they want. 

The Fabrique is one of the service components of the Caylus Third-Party Centre (currently under development). The latter is a winner of the APP Fabrique de territoire, DEFI'OCC and the AMI Manufacture de proximité. The Fabrique's services are linked to these programmes, and in 2023 it will host training courses and a Master's degree (BAC +4 and BAC +5) from the Tarn-et-Garonne Chamber of Trades and Crafts. 

It has a 1,000 m2 space in the Caylus business park and a workshop in the town centre. The Fabrique has a wood, metal, textile, clay and 3D printing workshop.  

1-year renewable fixed-term contract 

35 hours per week (staggered working hours) / to be filled on 20/02/2023

Tuesday to Friday and one Saturday a month. 

Remuneration commensurate with experience  

B driving licence required

Missions

Reporting to the Territory Factory Manager (in charge of the third-places project and the culture mission), and working closely with the fabmanager and the economic development officer, the successful candidate willworkshop managerwill be involved in all activities relating to the management and development of the FabLab La Fabrique de Caylus. 

Theworkshop managerwill be responsible for assisting companies and individuals with their projects, from conception to completion. Theworkshop managerbe jointly responsible for the proper management and maintenance of the machine fleet. 

In liaison with his/her colleagues and management, he/she designs and implements events around digital culture, low-tech and resilience (meetings, discussions/debates, workshops). 

He/she participates in current development programmes (APP Fabrique de territoire, DEFI'OCC and AMI Manufacture de proximité, etc.) and future programmes: development of an R&D centre. 

Encouraging new collaborative working methods, working together, sharing knowledge and skills. 

Participates in writing documentation/tutorials and distributing them. 

  

Activities

Workshop / Programming : 

  • Helping to manage the fleet of machines and develop the range and uses for private individuals, professionals and associations. 
  • Helping professionals, individuals and associations with their projects: design, 2D drawing, modelling, production. 
  • Manage mixed income and expenditure for memberships and machine reservations. 
  • Keeping an active digital watch on digital tools and uses 

Mediation : 

  • Proposing, designing and producing events for individuals, professionals and local players. 
  • Implementing partnerships, participating in cross-disciplinary projects and networking. 
  • Working with a variety of audiences on out-of-home projects. 
  • Participate in and lead training initiatives for professionals and students (bachelor's and master's level) 
  • Participating in the development and distribution of communication tools for the venue's projects and news, in conjunction with the communications department.

Knowledge

  • Free digital design tools (Inkscape, Fusion 360) 
  • Interests in digital manufacturing and DIY 

Know-how

  • Design a programme of activities and workshops to suit the target audience 
  • Leading and guiding the audience during a workshop 
  • Ensuring public safety 
  • Monitor requirements for equipment, materials and consumables 
  • Produce an assessment and report on a project

Would be a plus

A background in design would be highly appreciated. 

An appetite for art and creativity. 

Computer development skills (Arduino, Python, etc.) 

Knowledge of customer relations management 

Professional practice or training in one or more of the following fields: wood, metal, textiles, ceramics, IT and programming.
