The village of Saint-Projet is situated 3 kilometres from the Lot and 7 from the Aveyron. It is 55 kilometres from the departmental capital, Montauban, and 25 kilometres from Villefranche de Rouergue.

Green tourism is booming here, thanks in particular to the rental of self-catering cottages and houses. Saint-Projet has a rich heritage, with a château open to visitors all summer, a restored windmill in Saillagol, two beautiful churches (in Saint-Projet and Saillagol), wash-houses, wells and ponds. The local footpaths are well-maintained, making for great walks. The landscape is undulating and wooded, with fields and meadows surrounded by hedges, low walls and trees.

In the village, a playground has been set up for children, as well as a boules pitch. The village has a strong community life, with 9 associations, 7 of which organise various events throughout the year. Fifteen or so farmers and ten or so craftspeople form the economic backbone of the village. Saint-Projet is green, peaceful, friendly and a great place to live all year round.
